Assignment #5

SMARTboard Board Game

This was the first time I ever created something using the SMARTboard software. I came up with the idea after creating an actual board game and thought it would be fun to create a board game that could be used with the SMARTboard.
After I had an idea of what I wanted, it was relatively easy to get started. I used links from the board game to the question cards and special cards. I wasn't sure how to do this at first so it took a couple tries but it was really easy to figure out. I had some problems with the cards. If it were an actual board game, there would have been a deck of cards but I could not figure out how to make a deck of cards so if someone landed on the same square more than once they wouldn't get the same card. So I had to create a single slide with several additional questions and specials. It would have been nice to figure out how to shuffle additional cards per square but I was unable to. I also tried to add a fireworks video to the last slide with a link from the WIN square but was unable to get the fireworks to play automatically and so I didn't want to use it.
So I learned: linking, adding flash tools, and basically working with SMARTboard software.

I feel fairly good using the SMARTboard software after this project. I know there is much more that I could learn to do and with time I hope to be able to figure out some more things to do and make but this was a good learning experience. I have always been a fast learner and being able to learn things on my own so this didn't end up too hard but I had no clue where to start when I first started so it was a learning experience.

I hope to be able to use this in my classes in the future. While I may not be able to use SMARTboard software, at least I will have the idea and be able to go from there. I really enjoyed working on this project.

Breanne: I enjoyed playing your game in Instructional Design,so I thought it was great that you were able to make it into a smart board activity. Great job at making math more than just another subject but a fun one!!

I think that the game you created was so clever. It was interesting to play it in I.D. and then see the same exact board on the Smartboard. Very clever. You did great!
