Engage me or Enrage me

This article discussed how its important for teachers today to engage their students. Students today are so used to the fast-paced digital world where they can get anything they want in matter of seconds on the Internet. Because students are used to this fast-paced world, they want the same things in the classroom. Teachers can not expect to make an influence on their students if they are unable to make the lessons interesting, engaging, and fun for them. Since students are not getting what engages them, they are becoming upset, not paying attention, and not participating in classes. We must engage the students if they are to learn anything or else they will become enraged.

However, the article gave no ideas of how to make lessons interesting to the new generation. As a math teacher, how can I make sure to engage my students? There are different math games that can be played but will that be interesting to high school students or would they find them lame? How, besides the typical math lessons, can I engage my students?

Great questions Brenne regarding how you as a teacher will be able to engage your students. I hope that you will find some of the tools that we talk about in this class helpful and that you will make exciting discoveries as you work on various projects for this class.
